Mind, Body & Soul.
There is a strong connection between physical fitness and mental wellbeing. Exercise is associated with a better mood and improved quality of life. The function of physical activity in preventing a wide range of chronic illnesses and premature mortality, has been extensively studied over the last several decades.
Exercise enhances your:
physical strength
endurance
bone mineral density
sleep cycle
attention
memory
focus
cognition
decision-making
At The Weight Loss Specialist Clinic, we recommend exercise as a means to boost your mood, confidence and weight loss.
Physical activity aids in lowering your cortisol stress hormone secretion, and it balances out your energy and hunger hormones: leptin & ghrelin. Studies have illustrated that exercise reduces the incidence of heart disease, breast and bowel cancer, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis.
Our In-house Physiotherapist Kimberly specialises in home exercise plans, tailored to suit your body shape, size and condition.
Group exercise sessions are available, along with telehealth and video consultations for those patients who live in rural and remote locations.
If you’re a surgical candidate:
We offer pre surgical optimisation → exercise for strength and conditioning before your operation.
We offer post surgical rehab → exercise therapy to aid in recovery and rebuilding.
Exercise FAQs:
What happens in my initial appointment?
At your initial appointment, we will have an open and honest discussion to gather information.
This information may include: your current and past medical conditions/injuries, your current body composition, activities and hobbies, your current beliefs about exercise, your exercise experience, and your short-term and long-term goals.
We will work together to improve your fitness, create healthy habits, and formulate an achievable plan, customised for you.
Will you provide an exercise program?
Yes!
An exercise program specifically tailored to you, your current activities, and your goals will be provided.
We will talk through the exercises together and demonstrations of the exercises will be provided as necessary. We offer follow-ups to provide accountability and check-ins to ensure your exercise program is still at the appropriate level for you.
We encourage you to make regular appointments for review to monitor your progress. An exercise program should always be evolving and changing with you.
What if I don’t have much exercise experience?
That is completely okay. Everyone is different.
Your exercise program will be designed specifically for you. We will take into account your exercise experience and current activity levels to create your program and provide you a safe way to progress your fitness.
I don’t have time, and I don’t feel comfortable going to a gym. Can I exercise from home?
Yes!
At The Weight Loss Specialist Clinic, we understand that the gym may not be a preferred choice for everyone. Your exercise program can be created so that you can do your exercises at home, with little to no equipment.
I live in a remote, rural area. Can you accommodate for this?
Absolutely!
We offer telehealth services (phone or video call) for those who live in remote or rural areas, or those who are unable to make it into the clinic due to other reasons.
Please keep in mind, that in some cases, a video call may be better than a phone call, in order to demonstrate exercises.
Remember, weight loss is a journey!
Weight loss should not only be about how you look, or the number on the scale. It is also about how you feel.
We take a holistic client-centred approach to provide you with education and advice for creating healthy habits and behaviours to allow for long-term, sustainable change.
